A Well-Placed Hope

If I didn’t write about this, then what on earth could possibly be  more important?

The people have demanded a King, (1 Samuel Chapter 8) and God has given them one–again. A person who has no regard for the life of the unborn, who condones homosexuality by refusing to defend marriage as defined by God, a person who has increased our country’s debt to such an amount that it cannot possibly be repaid, who bows to a Muslim, and who ignores Israel’s leader, is now once again, in “power” over the citizens of the United States of America–for 4 more years.

I went to bed last night not knowing who had won the Presidential race. My desire was to go to sleep with some amount of hope that perhaps I would awake the next day to the good news that this small, poor excuse for a man would soon vacate the White House. Yes, I am disappointed.

However, this morning I found hope. Not the hope Barack Obama promised before being elected the first “go round”, but the hope that is in our Lord Jesus Christ. I found myself humming and singing the words to the song, “The Solid Rock”.

“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.”

“On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.”                  Edward Mote

No, we need not trouble ourselves with the evil and darkness that has stained Barack Obama’s hands, for he is no match for our God, our Lord Jesus Christ. Barack Obama is but a mosquito or a minute buzzing fly flitting about and annoying God. God has been gracious with the American people and showing us undeserved mercy, although we have experienced the beginnings of the birth pangs–all the signs are here– the ungodly need to repent and turn their hearts to God.

I say woe to the person who professes to be a Christian yet voted for Barack Obama. You have given God lip service, yet you show your heart by your vote.  Now, more than ever, we who say we are Christians need to stay close to our Savior and Lord and shun all forms of evil for the day of judgement is coming… soon.

  1. Looks like might have just lost a few friends! It looks like the nation takes politics far more seriously than we do over here.
As I only use the TV to watch motor racing I can honestly say I know nothing about the chap who lost.
I believe very few politicians generally care about the masses, unless it is the masses they accumulate innthe course of their work.
Didn’t care firbtge president before, and don’t now either.
Yes, our hope is greater, and faithful too.

  2. The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? Jer. 17:9 Jesus, Himself, will reign on this earth for a thousand years during which time satan will be held captive and unable to lead people astray. And yet people WILL go astray during that time…during the time JESUS is reigning with perfect wisdom and perfect justice….why? Because the heart of man is desperately wicked and calloused. I can understand why someone who has no faith in God, no belief in the Bible, and no conviction that Jesus is the Savior would vote for a politician who creates policies that are offensive and repugnant to God. But I cannot understand how someone who professes Jesus as their Savior and God as their Father, could vote that way. However, it shouldn’t come as a surprise because it all points to the absolute truth of God’s Word. This is just another sign that the end is near. All these are the beginning of sorrows as Jesus said in Matthew 24. What hope we have knowing that nothing is out of God’s order and design. “He controls the course of world events, he removes kings and sets up other kings.” Daniel 2:21
Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Rev. 22:20

  3. Hi Joy.
Nice to hear from you again, trusting all OK.
Politicians here are even worse than your’s but, as you know, we answer to God, not man.
    Bless you my friend, Geoff.

  4. Although not an American, I know that what happens there affects the whole world, so I was extremely disappointed to hear the news of Obama’s re-election.

I’ve been told there are more important aspects in the American situation than abortion, but how anyone could vote for a person/party that favours abortion at any stage, but especially at full term, is beyond me. Voting for a murderer? How could anyone trust such a person with anything?

Having said that, we DO KNOW that God is in control. We also know that God has chosen to work in response to the prayers of His people. We MUST pray for Obama and the government. We MUST pray for all leaders. We MUST let our voice be heard and WRITE to our politicians, letting them know the thoughts of the silent majority.

Yes, we are heading for times of increased problems, but we have PEACE and HOPE. We have the security of knowing Christ and we have His joy.

  5. AMEN! Perfectly stated! Praise God, HE is our hope and change! Built upon a SOLID rock!
Blessed is the man whose trust is in GOD ! His WORD declares His majesty above all!
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved!
    You excell in writing Joy!
    God bless you !

  6. It is reassuring to me to know that God knew the outcome of the election long before any of us did…and if He didn’t want it to turn out the way it did, it wouldn’t have. I don’t know if He LIKES the outcome…but He allowed it. He is truly our one and only King…and HE is still in charge. Those who don’t follow Him will still answer to Him someday…

    • I truly believe God is allowing the United States to reap the consequences of turning our backs on Him. I just wonder how long will it take before the unrepentant realize that what is happening can’t be “fixed” with more laws, or more education or more tax cuts or tax increases… Still, those who are truly God’s children can rest in the fact that we know the final outcome–victory!

I'd be interested in hearing what you think!
