Today is the day to ‘celebrate’ Halloween… the day of the devil– that should say it all.
I have always thought that if someone were to actually witness one gruesome atrocity–just one of the thousands of atrocities that happen daily around our world, that surely– hopefully, they would not find this sort of direction or decoration entertaining.
I know children innocently go out in costume simply to obtain a stash of candy, but this event is simply not just about obtaining candy. There is an irreverence to life, to God and an embracing of evil, both real and imagined.
One time my husband asked me, “Where does evil hide?” I answered, “In plain sight.” Evil surrounds us, why invite it in?
This is what ISIS does… why laugh about it, why pretend, why imagine this to be fun? No, I am not over reacting. This sort of thing happens. Why glorify evil?
For the first time, I’m not participating in Halloween. Frankly, most of it is because I’m on a walk of eliminating objects, projects, and diversions from my life that have no lasting value; but I should have stopped participation in this event long ago. I’m not going to celebrate or participate in evil. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a slap in God’s face; the God who gave us more beauty than we can behold, and more love than I can comprehend. I’m not interested in spending eternity in ‘Lost Soul’s Cemetery’.

Joy, The quote from Ephesians is quite pertinent. I’ve never understood the fascination with evil, and never got involved with Halloween, never will.
I found it interesting in the country up north where I visited over the end of last month. October 31 is not celebrated in a commercial way. Instead, it is a day to remember the departed. People go to clean their departed family members’ graves and light candles. This made a lot more sense to me as it brings people together and you learn about those you never met, than having scary costumes.
